GOP state senators hosting info session Monday in Meredith on Senate Health Insurance Proposal

MEREDITH — Senate Finance Chairman Jeanie Forrester, R-Meredith, will hold an informational session to discuss the Senate Health Insurance Proposal (Senate Bill 413) on Monday, March 3 in Meredith.

The session will be an opportunity for Lakes Region residents to learn more about the Senate proposal which will use federal funds to establish a two-year pilot program that will help low-income New Hampshire residents purchase health insurance though the private market. Senator Forrester will be joined by Senate President Chuck Morse, R-Salem, and Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley, R-Wolfeboro to discuss the bill and take questions.

"Today, the state and our hospitals are footing the bill to cover the cost of health care for uninsured Granite Staters," said Sen. Forrester. "As a result, New Hampshire families and businesses are burdened with hundreds of millions of dollars in hidden taxes, paid for in the state budget and through higher cost insurance policies. Further, the improper utilization of our health care system by those who cannot afford insurance increases emergency room wait times, limits the availability of doctors, and impacts the quality of care we all receive. The Republican Senate Health Protection Plan will address these issues based on the conservative principles of state sovereignty, taxpayer protection, and personal responsibility, and I look forward to discussing the merits of the plan with residents at this informational session."

The information session is open to the public but seating is limited. Residents interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Liz Sheil at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 271-4980 by Monday, March 3 at noon.
