Laconia — The Laconia Kiwanis Club, through the Laconia Kiwanis Charities Fund, has generously donated $4,000 to the Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice Pediatric Program.
The Pediatric Program supports and teaches Lakes Region families through prenatal visits, mother-baby postpartum visits, home visits by pediatric Registered Nurses, immunizations, Child Development Clinics and follow-up programs, Partners in Health programs for children with chronic health conditions, and pediatric care management.
The Laconia Kiwanis Club has supported the Pediatric Program for many years. Jack Batchelder, president of the Kiwanis Club of Laconia said, "We're proud to support this Pediatric Program because we sincerely believe the work they do is an important investment in the health of children in our community. For almost ninety years the Laconia Kiwanis Club has been dedicated to the needs of young children in the Lakes Region through its support for Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, the Kiwanis Dental Program, the Laconia High School Key Club, Kiwanis K.A.R.E.S. in Laconia elementary schools, bicycle safety programs, Laconia Little League, scholarships through the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation, immunizations for young children, and much more."
Anne Marie Mercuri, RN, Young Family Program Nurse Coordinator says, "The Kiwanis Club of Laconia continues to make a real difference in the lives of Lakes Region children. Because of support from Kiwanians over many years, we have been able to help connect young families with health care providers so that they receive regular and consistent care. This means that potential problems can be detected and treated earlier; children can grow up healthier and perform better in school."
The Laconia Kiwanis Club welcomes new members as well as financial support for programs which serve the children of Lakes Region communities. The club meets at 6:15 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month. For more information visit www.laconiakiwanis.com.
