CAMPTON — The Campton Congregational church located on Route 175 in Campton is in the process of building a computer learning center specifically for seniors, beginners or anyone else with a specific computer need that requires special help. It will be starting in the very near future and will be available once each week in the morning, afternoon and the evening on either each Tuesday or Thursday for about 20 weeks.
This course is unique since the emphasis will be on teaching and not a schedule. If desired a scheduled student will be allowed to additionally return in the fall after Labor Day and continue his or her learning experience. Decaf and regular coffee will be available for anyone.
The computer center will provide a laptop computer and Windows 7. You will be permitted to bring your own laptop which may have Windows 7 or an earlier operating system such as Vista but they will be limited to some extent. Windows 8 or 8.1 will not be permitted since they are quite different and not compatible with all the other Microsoft operating systems.
Specifics of the course will include: 1) Properly turning the computer on and off, 2) How and what should a person buy. 3) How to send an E-mail, 3) Protecting a computer from a virus. 4) Finding up to date medical information, 5) Retouching photos 6) Finding a long lost love or friend, 7) Using a word processor 8) Using a spread sheet and 9) Finding weather reports.
