LACONIA — Altrusa of Laconia is excited about their plans for a Family Literacy Day, during which local children who attend will receive free books. The event, planned for Saturday, April 12 will run from 9 a.m. until noon at Woodland Heights Elementary School.
The festivities will include exhibitors, healthy snacks, face painting and more. This is a statewide celebration of NH Literacy Day with similar events around the state and Altrusa is proud to be able to represent Laconia. Working with the Granite State Reading Council allows the club to purchase new books for $1 each or less. The club is seeking sponsors to cover the purchase of these books. Sponsorships of $50 or more will include a label on each book naming them as the donor.
Local businesses and community members can become a sponsor by visiting the club's website, www.altrusalaconia.org.
