Show will go on at LHS, thanks to donor generosity

LACONIA — After some financial setbacks, Laconia High School Theatre Arts reached out to the community to sponsor their upcoming production of Brigadoon. Irwin Motors and CCI (Conneston Construction, Inc) stepped forward to provide support.

"We're so pleased that these community partners came forward," said director Bernie Campbell. "We're a self-funding organization, and we had a rough year last year, so cash was getting a little tight. We're really thankful."

Irwin Motors donated $250 dollars, and CCI donated $100. "That might not seem like much," Campbell said. "But really, that's huge for us. That'll buy enough fabric for all our costumes."

Both companies will be featured in the program for Brigadoon, and on a sponsors board in the lobby before the show.

"It's not too late to give support," Campbell said. "We're always looking for more support from the community. These kids are so committed to what they do, and it's important for them to know that people support the arts."

The Theatre Arts group produces three plays a year, one in the fall, the winter and the spring musical. This year's musical, Brigadoon, will premiere on April 3.
