LACONIA — The Rehabilitation, Sports and Fitness Department of LRGHealthcare has announced the winter/spring 2014 Athletic Performance Series topics and dates. These free programs are designed to assist the coach, the athlete or the everyday exerciser develop sport specific skills or to improve their overall fitness.
A Moving Towards Better Running workshop will begin on Thursday, February 20 at the Inter-Lakes Medical Center. The workshop runs from 6 to 7 p.m. and will provide information about injury prevention, running techniques, running form, and proper shoe selection.
Dynamic Stretching and Injury Prevention course, aimed to teach participants dynamic stretching to improve strength, speed, agility and endurance. The program will start on Thursday, March 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Medical Center- Lot C, Gilford.
An Aquafit workout can help decrease pain associated with land-based exercises and enhance an existing training program. The Aquatics Workshop will begin on Thursday, April 10. The workshop runs weekly 5-5:45 and 6-6:45 p.m. at Hillside Medical Center, Lot C, Gilford.
Rotator Cuff-Keeping Your Shoulder Healthy and Strong workshop will show participants simple exercises to keep shoulders healthy and strong. The strengthening will enable people to actively engage in everyday activities as well as lifting and sports. The program will start on Tuesday, March 4 at Franklin Regional Hospital Rehabilitation, First Floor. The program runs 6-7 p.m. weekly.
Getting ready for the Green- minimize golf related injuries introductory course on the importance of dynamic stretching and strengthening exercises designed specifically for the golfer will be held on Thursday, April 3, 6-7 p.m. at Hillside Medical Center Lot C in Gilford and on Tuesday, April 8, 6-7 p.m. at Franklin Regional Hospital Rehabilitation, First Floor.
