LACONIA — A $5 early bird registration to Raft-a-Palooza at NH LAKES' LakeFest 2014 provides a New Year's resolution-friendly experience like none other – the opportunity to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt for largest free floating raft of canoes and kayaks on New Hampshire's own Lake Winnipesaukee. Visit nhlakefest.org to register and be among the anticipated 2,100 canoes and kayaks.
On August 3, LakeFest 2014 features a Guinness Rematch as part of Raft-a-Palooza at Endicott Rock Park in Laconia. Ninety-eight percent (98%) of 2013's paddlers are slated to return, along with additional family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues in order to successfully seize that Guinness gold for NH – the goal is 2,100 canoes and kayaks to form the largest free-floating raft of canoes and kayaks in the world.
Funds raised through LakeFest 2014 directly support NH LAKES' work to protect local lakes and their watersheds through education and advocacy. Since 2002, hundreds of paid and volunteer NH LAKES Lake Hosts have conducted more than 576,000 courtesy boat inspections and have made more than 1,409 "saves" of aquatic nuisance plant fragments that were about to enter or had just left a waterbody.
