LACONIA — Steeped in tradition from the beginning in 1929, the Lakes Region Sled Dog Club is excited to announce its partnership with Chef Kevin Halligan, owner-operator of The Laconia Village Bakery and The Local Eatery restaurants, as the concession provider for the 85th Laconia World Championship Sled Dog Derby on February 7-9.
Chef Kevin Halligan is a very active member of the Lakes Region community. He believes in supporting locally and regionally sourced items and is committed to sustaining the vitality of economic growth here in the Lakes Region. He is a partner with the LNH Children's Auction, supplying his culinary creations to auction volunteers. Together with his staff, opened up The Local Eatery and hosted the Veggie Round Up Project fundraising breakfast, raising money to help bring fresh, local produce to families with limited incomes.
He was chosen by the Laconia Main Street Initiative and the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce to be the Grand Marshall of the 2013 Laconia Holiday Parade.
Established in August 2012, Local Eatery, a quaint local restaurant that seats 36 diners providing quality NH and New England products and produce, features a year-round menu using as much local food as Halligan can find. Chef Halligan is a 2002 graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, and owner of Laconia Village Bakery since 2007.
