LACONIA — The Family Resource Center of Central New Hampshire, located at 719 North Main Street is for the first time offering a free, "Tenant 101" program to families in the Lakes Region.
"Tenant 101" will meet on Tuesdays, for 4 –weeks: January 28, February 4, 11, and 18 from 6-8 p.m. and includes an optional dinner from 5:30-6 p.m. This free series is open to all and specifically aims to support tenants who may have poor or negative landlord references. Many area landlords have agreed to accept this Tenant 101 certificate as your willingness to be a better tenant, which may offset a prior poor landlord reference.
Presenters Captain Steve Warren of the Salvation Army, Tammy Emery of LRCS Family Resource Center, Priscilla Bean of H&P Apartments, Leonard Campbell of Catholic Charities Sheri Minor of Don Minor Rentals, Kerri Lowe of LRCS Family Resource Center, and Dan Feltes, New Hampshire Legal Assistance Housing Project Director will cover topics: what to look for in an apartment, what to expect in an interview, how to know if an apartment is affordable, tenant rights, the eviction process, and being a good neighbor.
"Tenant 101 is a collaborative effort between landlords, non-profits and tenants, designed to build strengths for positive tenant experiences," says Tammy Emery of LRCS Family Resource Center. "Participants will learn a variety of life skills in a supportive learning environment."
