Cartoonist Herb Morse is Artist in the Library for January

GILMANTON — Herb Morse, cartoonist and Gilmanton resident, is Artist in the Library at the Gilmanton Year-Round Library this month.

Morse came to Gilmanton as a young boy, and has been drawing cartoons since he was six years old. His fascination with cartoons began with the Sunday papers' brightly colored cartoon section and his collection of comic books.

He has exhibited at the Gilmanton Old Home Day and various area art shows. His father, Howard, had a hobby of oil painting and, with his mother Mary Morse began the tradition of an art exhibit at Old Home Day.

A reception will be held at the Library on Saturday afternoon, January 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend and meet the artist. The Library is on NH Route 140 across from the Gilmanton School. For details check the website, www.gyrla.org.
