ALTON — Oscar Night at the Movies will be held at the Gilman Library on Friday, December 6 at 7 p.m.
The feature film is a holiday romance that was released in 1940 and starring Barbara Stanwick and Fred MacMurray. This movie is a heartwarming holiday classic about a petty shoplifter on trial for swiping an expensive bracelet from a local jewelry store. When her trial is postponed until after New Years, sympathetic attorney John Sargent bails her out of jail. Soon, they find themselves falling in love when he invites her to his family's home for the holidays where she discovers the warmth and love she has never had but always wanted.
The film is approximately 1 hour and 34 minutes. Not rated and in black and white. Refreshments are served. All are welcome. Children under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult.
