MEREDITH — Local historian and anthropologist Dan Heyduk will be showing a slide presentation of Meredith's winter celebrations of nearly 100 years on Tuesday, August 6 at the the Meredith Historical Society. The program will begin at 7 p.m.
The presentation will show images of baseball on snowshoes, horse and dog sled races, and a Winter Carnival ball complete with orchestra.
Heyduk will also describe businesses in a vibrant Meredith Center, where mills, blacksmiths, wheelwrights, carpentry shops and a hotel kept the economy growing.
The evening is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 279-1190.
