This Saturday the author will be signing books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bayswater Book Store in Center Harbor.
After being awakened on a summer night at their grandparents "camp" by the storm of the century, eleven-year-old Nina discovers a tiny, half-drowned fairy clinging to her bedroom window. Soon she and her eight-year-old brother, Jack. are drawn into a secret world of magical beings deep in the White Mountains. From one adventure to another, Nina and Jack have to use all their courage to help save their new friends, as they discover the mysteries that lie hidden within the Crystal Cavern.
Secrets of the Crystal Cavern is a story based on the ones that Cary told to her own two children as they grew up summering on the lake, hiking mountain trails and playing in the surrounding woods of the White Mountains. The illustrator, Anne Marie Byrd, who also grew up spending summers at the lake in Meredith, successfully captures the excitement of a summer adventure ready to begin in her use of a New Hampshire cave in her cover design and chapter illustrations.
