3rd Annual March for Meals Walkathon

CONCORD — On a picture-perfect day May 18 more than 100 people chose to walk in the 3rd annual March for Meals Walkathon to support the Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack County Inc.'s (BM-CAP) local Meals on Wheels program.
March for Meals is an annual campaign initiated by the Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage local communities to address this critical issue. 8.3 million seniors face the threat of hunger every day according to the 2012 Annual Report on Senior Hunger and those numbers will continue to increase at an alarming rate as the senior population increases.
The contributions from the walkers themselves, as well as sponsors such as Meridian Health Plan, Bank of New Hampshire, Loudon Investment Management, and the Erla H. Dalrymple Revocable Living Trust, will help to defray the cost of more than 258,000 meals that BM-CAP's Meals on Wheels Program delivers to frail, homebound elders living in Belknap and Merrimack Counties.
