Published DateFRANKLIN — On Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a collaborative effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Franklin and Tilton Police Departments and the Franklin Mayor's Drug Task Force will be collecting unused and unwanted prescription drugs in the parking lot near the new Subway restaurant in Smitty's Plaza on the Franklin-Tilton town line.
No needles, syringes, or lancets will be collected.
The effort will give the public its sixth opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
The Franklin Mayor's Drug Task Force encourages everyone to take advantage of this free and
anonymous disposal day. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. And those prescription drugs are finding their way into the lives of our area high school age students.
