BRATTS Hands-on Trail Maintenance Volunteer Workshop Saturday in Gilford

GILFORD — The Belknap Range Trail Tenders (BRATTS) invites hikers, nature lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to attend a hands-on volunteer training workshop in basic trail maintenance and erosion control on Saturday, April 20.
The day long workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the lower gate on Carriage Road, just off Belknap Mountain Road in Gilford.
Tools will be supplied. Participants should bring gloves, lunch, and stable footwear. Experience in trail work is not necessary, although enthusiasm and an affection for mud are helpful qualifications.
With a system of over 50 established hiking trails connecting more than 14 notable peaks, the Belknap Range represents one of the New Hampshire Lakes Region's greatest natural treasures. By employing Best Management Practices established by the New Hampshire Trails Bureau, BRATTS maintains trails while protecting the environment, encouraging responsible use, and fostering strong relations between the organizations and landowners - both private and public - that host trails across their properties.
