Published DateGILFORD — With February recognized as National Children's Dental Health Month through the American Dental Association (ADA), the ADA adopted the GIVE KIDS A SMILE program (providing free dental care and education to underserved children).
Through partnership with the NH Dental Society (NHDS), Dr. Melissa Kennell of the Children's Dentistry of the Lakes Region and NHDS Co-Chair of Give Kids a Smile is excited to announce the success of Smile School Educational Program.
The Lakes Region Smile School program, founded by Dr. Kennell, includes a dentist and dental hygienist visiting Elementary Schools through the Greater Lakes Region, offering a 30 minute interactive assembly teaching the importance of oral hygiene and the art of making oral care fun, a half-hour video featuring Dudley the dinosaur from the American Academy of Dentistry. All children will be bringing home toothbrushes as well.
Dr. Melissa Kennell, Dr. Matthew Smith, and the Children's Dentistry of the Lakes Region Dental Team, along with Dr. Glenda Reynolds of Creative Dental have been traveling to local schools during the months of February and March including Woodland Heights Elementary, Holy Trinity School, Elm Street School and Pleasant Street School (all in Laconia), Union Sanborn School and Southwick School in Northfield, Jeanie Blake Schoolin Hill, Lakeland School in Meredith, and Belmont Elementary.
