Laconia Democrats Donate Supplies to Belknap County CAP
Published Date
LACONIA — On Monday, February 4, the Laconia Democratic Committee donated a full SUV's worth of food, toiletries and diapers to the Belknap County Community Action Program. These supplies were collected during a drive as part of the National Day of Service coinciding with President Obama's second inaguration, and were delivered to the CAP pantry at their complex on Route 106 in Laconia..
The primary mission of the CAP is to work with low-income families and the elderly to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The agency accomplishes this task by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned and managed. It sponsors and manages seventy-three programs designed to meet the needs of children, families, single parents and the elderly. Without the services provided by the agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs including food and shelter.
