The Alton Garden Club hosts its annual "Plant and Pastries Sale" fundraiser to benefit the Doris Barnes Scholarship Fund. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Community Center in Alton Bay. Proceeds go to a student graduating from Prospect Mountain High School.

10th annual Lakes Region Saint Baldrick's event to raise money for childhood cancer research in return for people shaving their heads. 9 a.m. to noon at the Gilford Youth Center. Event includes a pancake breakfast, a silent auction, and a bake sale.

Free Fishing Day for all of New Hampshire. Fishing is permitted on in freshwater or saltwater without a fishing license.

2014 football, cheer and flag football sign ups hosted by the Laconia Youth Football and Cheer Association held at the Laconia Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon. Sign ups also available online by going to www.laconiachiefs.com.

Roast beef dinner with all the fixings and homemade desserts served by Trinity Episcopal Church in Meredith. 5-7 p.m. 10% of all proceeds will support the work of Lakes Region Visiting Nurses. Tickets are $12 per person or $30 per family. For more information call 279-6689.
