GILFORD — Charles “Charlie” F. Grant Sr., 85, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at the Jack Byrne Hospice Center in Lebanon.
Charlie was born March 21, 1932, in Laconia, the son of the late Sam and Chara (Monty) Grant. He was a lifetime resident of the Lakes Region. Charlie was a truck driver for Persons Concrete Company for nearly 30 years. He also served for the National Guard and United States Army for over 38 years.
Charlie had a passion for being outdoors and working. He knew how to live off the land and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Goss) Grant; four sons, Steven Grant of Gilford, Timothy Grant of Gilford, Scott Grant of Center Harbor, and Michael Grant of Laconia; three grandchildren, Austin Grant, Ashley Davis and Kelsey Grant; two sisters, Edie Adams and Gracie Endean; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Charlie is predeceased by his oldest son, Charles Grant Jr. formerly of East Kingston.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery Gilford, NH.
