GILMANTON — Donald Murray MacMillan, 85, of Prescott Road, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Forestview Manor in Meredith.
Donald was born April 2, 1932, in Nova Scotia, Canada, son to the late Murray and Veronica (MacDonald) MacMillan.
Donald began working for the Woolworth Company when he was just a teenager. He and his wife Mary lived in many locations during his employment with the company. When he retired Donald was the buyer and vice president of the Woolworth Co., based in New York City (Manhattan).
During his retirement, Don enjoyed spending time at his North Country home in Colebrook, where he and Mary spent many winters snowmobiling. During the summer months, Don could always be found working in the yard, tending to his meticulous lawn.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary (Knowles) MacMillan; and his best buddy, Oscar, his loyal dog. Also surviving him are two sisters, Joan McAnual of Texas, and Shirley Walsh of New York.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Phyllis Bateman and Audrey Horne.
There will be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be at a later date in the Smith Meeting house Cemetery, Gilmanton.
