LOUDON — Richard Albert Witham, 77, a longtime resident of Loudon, died Friday, March 17, 2017, following a period of failing health.
Richard was born in Morrisville, Vermont, March 17, 1940, son of the late George W. Witham Sr. and Helen (Gilman) Witham.
Richard spent his youth in Gerrish and was schooled in Boscawen, later living in the Northfield-Loudon areas for many years. He worked for local farms in the Canterbury area for several years. He retired in 2004 following 40 years as a truck driver with Ken Nutter Trucking in Belmont and for a time at R.D. Edmunds and Sons.
A quiet man, Richard especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by sisters, Alma Witham and Linda Witham Roberts and her husband, Elwood; sister-in-law, Carol (Bell) Witham; and nieces, Lisa Roberts and Karen Witham.
He leaves siblings Nancy Witham Brown of Northfield, Elvin “Al” Witham of Northfield, George “Joe” Witham Jr. of Northfield, David Witham and his wife Georgette (Gagne) of Webster, and Janet Witham Rand and her husband Charles of Loudon; 12 nieces and nephews; and 11 grand- and seven great-grandnieces and nephews.
According to the wishes of Richard, calling hours will not be held. A private graveside service will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Canterbury later in the spring.
