TAMWORTH — Chris Pappas, a Democratic candidate for the congressional seat being vacated by Carol Shea Porter will appear at the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth on Monday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. Pappas has represented 19 communities in District 4 as Executive Councilor for the state of New Hampshire since 2013. Chris served two terms in the NH House of Representatives, and is the fourth-generation member of his family to own and operate a popular restaurant in Manchester, frequently a spot for presidential primary hopefuls in New Hampshire.
As a member of the Executive Council, Chris helped lead the fight to expand Medicaid to 50,000 Granite State working families, bringing $2.5 billion in new federal funds into the state’s economy. He has been one of New Hampshire’s strongest advocates for modernizing the state’s transportation infrastructure, including developing a commuter rail to Boston. He has cast critical votes to keep Planned Parenthood centers funded to provide basic, vital health services for women and families.
“We’re pleased to continue serving the people of Carroll County by hosting each of the Democratic candidates for Congress in Tamworth," Carroll County Democratic Committee Chair Erik Corbett said. "It’s crucial that our next member of Congress be familiar with the district from Hart’s Location to Manchester. We hope that Democrats, Independents and Republicans come to Cook Library on the 12th to meet Chris and all of the Democratic candidates over the coming months.”
Other candidates for the Democratic nomination for Congress who will be speaking in Carroll County in coming months include Mark MacKenzie, Mindi Messmer, and Maura Sullivan. Additionally, there will be a candidates forum at Runnels Hall in Chocurua on June 7 at 6 p.m. For more information visit www.facebook.com/CarrollCountyNHDemocrats and
