MEREDITH — Inter-Lakes High School has found a champion at NEFCO Fire Investigators. NEFCO is the nation’s leading fire investigation company. Steve Day is an electrical forensics engineer at NEFCO. He works out of the Wolfeboro office and has been a partner with Inter-Lakes High School.
Day has volunteered his time the last few years in the forensic science class at Inter-Lakes High School, where he shares his 29 years of expertise with students. When Day comes in, he brings machines and appliances that have been damaged by fire and teaches the students how to take them apart and conduct a real hands-on investigation. The students then write reports and present their findings as a part of a mock trial. Students love this activity.
New Hampshire Scholars currently oversees more than 400 business volunteers who actively give their time to help public high schools in New Hampshire, through job shadowing, internships and mentoring. These men and women are a powerful force in the lives of young people; they often make the difference in helping students decide how to choose a career path. NH Scholars and the New Hampshire College & University Council recognize these outstanding businesses and schools who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing partnerships dedicated to student success. For Inter-Lakes High School students those partnerships are made possible by the Greater Meredith Program’s Career Partnerships Program. The Greater Meredith Program is committed to fostering close relationships between high school students and local business leaders.
