MEREDITH — The ILHS Interact Club inducted Senior Juliette Bean, Junior Quinn Taylor, and Freshmen Aalianna Marietta and Raven Strother on Nov. 14. The keynote speakers for event were board members from the Inter-Lakes Got Lunch program.
The ILHS Interact Club has the motto service above self. Students work throughout the year to bring about international understanding and give back locally, state wide and internationally.
This fall, the ILHS Interact Club purchased a Shelter Box through Shelter Box International that was sent to hurricane victims. They also purchased three wheelchairs through The Wheelchair Foundation to help change lives in Third World countries. In the month of October, the Interact Club sponsored a statewide sock drive. Socks were collected at Timberlane High School, Bow High School, Manchester Technical School, Rochester Elementary Schools, Laconia High School, Inter-Lakes School District, Meredith Savings Bank, Boomerang Furniture Store in Plymouth and the Boys and Girls Club of the Lakes Region. Over 6,000 pair of socks (and still counting) were distributed throughout the state to local shelters.
Next month, Interact Club will be volunteering at the annual Rotary Dinner on Sunday, Dec. 3, and they are gearing up to volunteer at the Greater Meredith Fishing Derby in February.
