Winni River Trail cleanup set for Saturday

TILTON — As a way of celebrating Earth Day, the public is invited to assist the Winnipesaukee River Trail Association with its annual cleanup and trail maintenance day.
The event will be held, rain or shine, this Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon.
People are needed to help pick up trash and provide some light trail maintenance. Participants will meet near Cross Mill bridge for the and work on the Northfield and Franklin sections of the trail. The Northfield Conservation Commission will also be gathering there to cut brush on the newly acquired Blais Memorial property to improve river access and prepare for installing a parking area. Participants are encouraged to bring work gloves, and hand tools including rakes, brush cutters, shovels, wheel barrows etc. Organizers will provide garbage bags for trash pick up.
The Winnipesaukee River Trail is a multi-use pedestrian trail that follows the abandoned railroad and connects the downtown areas of Franklin and Tilton/Northfield with Route 140/Exit 20 on Interstate 93.
