Prescott Farm offering many programs this month

LACONIA — Winter programs are in full swing at Prescott Farm. February continues with more opportunities to unplug, relax and connect with nature. Snowshoe Strolls, a Moonlit Walk, Knitting for Total Beginners and WildQuest Winter Camp are just some of the ways to enjoy this month at the farm.

Snowshoe Strolls continue every Saturday in February from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30-2 p.m. Whether you are an avid snowshoer or just beginning, join us for a refreshing walk and exploration of the winter landscape of Prescott Farm. Snowshoes will be available if you don't already have your own. All ages welcome. Cost is $10/person, or $8/person for members of Prescott Farm, with pre-registration; $12 at the door.

A Moonlit Walk is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10 from 6-7:30 p.m. Environmental educators will guide participants on a moonlit walk where they will learn to identify several constellations in the night sky, discuss the habits of several nocturnal animals, and practice their own night vision abilities. Cost is $10/person, $8/person for members of Prescott Farm, with pre-registration; $12 at the door.

Knitting for total beginners will take place on Saturdays, Feb. 11 and Feb. 25, from 2:30-4: p.m. By the end of the two sessions, participants will be well on their way to finishing their  own simple scarf. Includes knitting needles and yarn to keep. Cost is $30, $28 for members, with pre-registration; $35 at the door.

WildQuest Winter Camp will take place during February school vacation week Feb. 22 to March 3,  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is for children ages 6-12.  Depending on the weather, the week will be a mix of animal tracking and snowshoeing adventures, sledding, winter games such as "Weasels & Voles," building "quinzhees" or igloos, a Winter Quest, exploring the frozen pond, winter-themed art and craft projects, maple sugaring, and stories around the campfire. Extended care is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Cost is $235/week or $47/day or $185/week or $37/day for members of Prescott Farm. Prices do increase for registrations received after Feb. 21.
