GILFORD — Pub Mania team captains held their wrap-up meeting at Patrick's on Thursday, Jan. 5, to celebrate another record-breaking year for funds raised for the Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction. Team captains from 31 teams enjoyed dinner and team acknowledgements.
On Dec. 8-9, Patrick's Pub & Eatery hosted the 8th Pub Mania, a 24-hour barstool challenge. On the final day of the auction, Pub Mania team captains, participants and volunteers presented a check to the Children's Auction for $276,267, bringing the Children's Auction total to $489,435. Pub Mania has now raised a cumulative total of over $1,313,000 in its first eight years, 100% of which is aimed at benefiting children and families in the greater Lakes Region of New Hampshire. In addition to the money raised, Pub Mania teams also delivered over 14,000 food items over the past year for the food pantry at St. Vincent de Paul.
With 31 teams and 24 people per team, the event has 744 'Culinary Athletes' participating. Each participant raises funds for their respective teams, with teams enjoying a healthy competition for three coveted awards: Top Dollar Award, Outstanding Participation Award and the Feeding Families Award.
Team BPS, led by Randy Remick and Keith McBey, took honors as the Top Dollar Team for the third consecutive year raising over $33,000. Tagg Team, captained by Judi and Butch Taggart, took the award for Outstanding Participation. Cheri Sweeney, Ann Wainwright and Lucy Jacobsen of the Laconia Country Club's 19th Hole received the "Feeding Families Award" also for the third consecutive year, collecting over 4,600 food items for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
"The success of Pub Mania is due to the tremendous spirit of generosity that this community brings forth for the Children's Auction and making a difference for children and families in need here" said Allan Beetle, co-owner or Patrick's and Pub Mania organizer. "Pub Mania is a fun and exciting way for people to be part of that".
