Prescott Farm hosts solstice festival

LACONIA — Prescott Farm will be holding a Solstice Lantern Festival this Saturday, Dec. 17 from 4-7 p.m., to celebrate the return of the light with fun activities all can enjoy.

Celebrate the upcoming winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, with fun activities to welcome back the light. Activities include a lantern parade, bonfire, lantern contests, lantern garden, guided lantern walks and a lantern-lit story walk. There will be a bake sale, and all proceeds will benefit Fledglings Preschool scholarship fund. The public also will have the opportunity to make and take home a winter candle holder for $5/person.

Homemade lanterns may be entered in the Lantern Festival contest; and homemade (including those not entered in the contest) and purchased lanterns may participate in a lantern parade. The contest will have four age categories: 0-5 years, 6-12 years, 13-18 years and adult. Each category will have a winner for 1) biggest; 2) most colorful; and 3) most creative. Ribbons will be placed on the winners.
